Crayolas, weeds, Blogrolling and more rambling

I’ve been wanting to go out and get a nice new set of Crayola Crayons this week.  So that is one of the things I  have on my list to do this weekend.  Something about seeing all the school buses out and about makes me want to have all 64 colors at my disposal.  The bright orange/yellow (or whatever the renamed color is now called), and the beginning changes on the trees… I must go and buy some crayons!

I also have been extremely happy this week because Blogrolling is working again!  And it appears to be working well.  There is a new feature (at least I never noticed it before) where it will put all the recently posted blogs at the top of my links lists.  I have 2 lists – Those I MUST READ FIRST and those I read as I have the time… but now that I have a visual signal that there is new content I think I will be able to keep up with all of the links I’ve been keeping.  And now that it is working again – I can keep adding to my never ending list of people I want to visit.  Check out some of the links on the right – there is some great stuff there!  PS – of course this new updated system will not work for people like LAUME who choose to post pretend dates in the past, so they are well over 12 hours old only minutes after they are actually posted (clear as mud?)

bee-pollen.jpg  The other day I took some photos of a bee who was covered in pollen from the Rose of Sharon bush – he could hardly stay in the air – if you look closely at the enlarged image you can see that his entire underside and bottom is covered in white powder!

This weekend could not have come soon enough.  I have been exhausted for some unexplainable reason and I’m suffering from PMS (that will be my excuse to the police if I beat anyone to death).  And I’ve been totally bored out of my head at the office.  This is one of our usual slow periods, but it drive me nuts.

Does anyone know what kind of weed this is?  We had a bunch of topsoil dropped off and these things are springing up all over the place – in less than a week it grew more than 2 feet tall – the flower look a little like morning glories but last time I checked Morning Glories didn’t have large Pricker Balls on them!  I want to know if I should dig them out before we weed wack them!  LOL

So for a change of pace – my plans include staying home for the first time in 5 weekends!  If it is cool, I plan on washing the windows and if it is hot they can wait.  There is a pile of stuff to bring to Goodwill and an even larger pile to sort. I really prefer Autumn cleaning to Spring cleaning as i find the brisk air inspires me – it doesn’t stay around long but while it is here – I try to take advantage of it.

Art is also on the agenda – I have a journal quilt to start and finish, and I’m working on a round robin with Color as the theme.  I got my first piece to work in today so I want to start it.  I also hope to do a few Halloween ATC’s for swaps and also would be interested in trading a few with anyone who is interested.  So if your up for a one-on-one Halloween swap let me know!

I also promise to update my blog!  I have so many photos I want to share.

Wow! Those are some big balls!
I saw the flower and leaf and the first thing that came to mind is Jimson Weed.
I think I’m right, what do you think?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimson_weed

Julie beat me to it…yep, jimson weed, member of the datura family. Toxic if you ingest it, but the only mammals I’ve ever heard of that are stupid enough to eat it are people (who then end up having hallucinations at best or in comas or dead at worst). It grows all over our place and we don’t encourage it, but we don’t make any special effort to get rid of it either.

I believe that orange/yellow crayon is now officially called “Laume’s Kitchen Wall”. The one I like to call “Curry” and most folks call “School Bus Orange”.
And I do NOT “make up” dates. It’s just I often write my blogs at 1 or 2 a.m. but for it to make sense when I take about it as “today”, I move the date back to just before midnight. Phbbt.

One thing I loe to do is color with crayons in coloring books, like the Barbie or Disneyland ones I used to get as a kid. I think I still have one around somewhere. Your post brought that back to me. Perhaps I’ll look for a grownup coloring book and use some of those 64 crayons that have been languishing in my desk drawer.

Well, I don’t think your favorites completely works. Een when I updated my blog, it stayed firmly in the second to last position. I am THRILLED to be in the favorites pile, though, second to last or not. ;-)
