October is the month to Organize
I don’t really “feel” Spring Cleaning – but when I do get the urge – it usually comes with the first Brisk weather. This year was no exception. Except that I decided that I was ready to let go of some furniture. I was keeping our old couch because I wanted to use it in my larger studio. This was the one which was supposed to be built when we did the next phase of our home-building. I am pretty resigned to the fact that they will be selling snowballs in hell before we start.
So I asked Tom to find out if a friend of his wanted the old couch – its a Thomasville and is one of the most comfortable couches – especially for overnight guests (I have a long list of people who agree). We are still waiting to hear if the friend wants it – but I decided to move the furniture around to the new locations.
To do this I had to buy 2 connectors and additional cords for the Tivo/DirecTV thing. Fortunately it set up easily and I love the new location. The red couch moved into the location of the old couch. The location where the red couch was – is now where Tom and I have our chairs – the TV moved to the location of my side-table and temporarily we have moved the old couch to near where my chair was.

Here is an after photo. I still have to move the artwork and decide if I want to get rid of the coffee table – maybe get a smaller one. The footstool (covered in faux shearling) is between Tom and my chairs because the dog doesn’t want to be too far away from either one of us, mostly me – sigh! but I can’t fit it in front of my chair with the table.
When we get rid of the old couch, we will have room for the hibiscus tree which Tom talks to and takes care of. I like how open this feels – and even when I’m sitting on my chair – it feel good – Change is a nice thing!
Last night as we were driving to dinner, Tom told me he is ready to start on the addition! The section with the other garage and my studio – nope I’m not changing my mind – I’m going to get rid of that couch!
I know there are a bunch of other people who are “re-arranging their homes and stuff. Including Julie, Jaye, Melody, and Cindy. But most notable is Laume, but I’m praying my burst of inspiration doesn’t take anywhere near the time she is spending on hers! LOL

So after you convince me to KEEP my loveseat, you decide to get rid of your couch. Don’t know how comfy it is as that’s the one William slept on.
You can’t possibly spend as much time on your rearranging as I have/am. I think I’m setting some sort of international record! I’m getting impatient to get it to the point where I feel like I can do a qualified “after” shot to show you though.
Your rearranging looks nice. Once the couch is out of there, it will look a lot more spacious. As for the studio, it will take up a lot less space to have a blow up mattress or fold out futon for guests than to have a couch. I wouldn’t have the extra sleeping space in my studio but it’s used so often that I can’t justify taking it out. And it’s a nice spot to lay things out. I have more room in my studio though than you – maybe not floor space, but definitely more head space. So it’s not as much of an issue for me.
I am dying to rearrange my living room furniture and paint, but something always seems to get in the way (can’t rearrange the furniture until we add another phone jack for the Tivo (not working yet!). Need to paint before we put the phone jack in. Sigh)
