If you look at this quilt it looks done… but unfortunately I should have paid attention to the fact that the light yellow was too light to read correctly. So today I get to decide if I paint or remove the blocks which need to be darkened. I am very happy with the way this looks, so hopefully the fix will be easy.
Today was a good quilting day – but much if it was spent away from my sewing machine, visiting with Southern NY area SAQA members. I even got to see Martha Hall’s quilt in person! It was very impressive.
Here is the progress I’ve made on the 2nd row. I have a feeling I may have to replace the lightest yellow color.
Yesterday I started a new QR Quilt, here is the top section.
This will be used for the CT Modern Quilt Guild.
I had a pile of graduated brights and although it’s hard to tell the light background color are Cream on Cream fabrics which I haven’t used in years. I think they look great together.
I finished my QR Code Quilt* and I’m very pleased with how it came out. (Images are clickable)
I’ve heard from several people with iPhone, iPads and Android smart phones and the quilt works perfectly on their phones. I tried out different QR Code readers on my Droid and the NeoReader and the I-nigma were the ones which worked on my phone. There were a few which did not work. I also heard from my brother and another friend that they could not scan the quilt on their BB’s. I don’t know if it’s because of the reader or because I reversed the design, but I think it may be because the reverse image didn’t read correctly for them.
I have plans to make a larger QR Code Quilt for a new group CTModernQuiltGuild that is just starting up. And I can’t wait to get started!
*WHAT’S A QR CODE?

A QR Code (it stands for “Quick Response”) is a cell phone readable bar code that can store website URL’s, plain text, phone numbers, email addresses and pretty much any other alphanumeric data.

Storing up to 4296 characters they are internationally standardized, so a QR code is a QR code all over the world
I finished a quilt top this weekend. I’m quite happy with the way it works and how it looks.
Well the weaving is done, I still have to sew the strips together but I needed to make sure that the quilt “worked”.
If you have a smart phone you can get an app for a QR Code – I use Neoreader on my droid. You can snap a picture with your phone (or ipad) and the QR reader will bring to someplace on the web!
This was fun, even though it took quite a while to get it assembled.
I still need to quilt and bind it, but this is a pretty good start.
